CORBY CONTEST (2015)

The weather at the start of the day was awful - heavy rain

So much so, that after a quick bit of playing we were forced to put the pipes back in cars and sit and wait in the hope the rain would ease

It eventually did and we were able to get on with the job of getting the pipes warmed up and the chanters in tune

Fortunately there was only one chanter reed that needed a little bit of manipulation, all the others very quickly came back into pitch

Once the sun came out, the pitch rose nicely to where we wanted it to be

The pipes produced a really nice sweet sound for this event and although there was one small finger slip in the first tune the actual performance of the band was good

Haven't seen the judges comment yet but clearly we were good enough to win the event, more than ably assisted by a first place performance from the drum corps.

So, congratulations all round - a brilliant result

The sound held up nicely going into this event and we took the opportunity to give one of our pipers, Mark, his first chance at competing at this level

First place is not bad for your first performance, definitely something to build on

One of the chanters was giving a little bit of a suspect 'D' before this event but even so the playing was reasonable (even good in places)

Well done everyone!

Onwards to Cowal!
