This was certainly a day to remember for the band - An early sounded E plus a horrible mistake in the Grade 4, coupled with another horrible mistake in the Grade 4A left us totally demoralised after the performances. We felt we'd thrown both contests away!
So, when the results were announced we were all in a bit of shock for a few minutes - but that was soon overcome and we 'floated' down the Ashbourne high street on the end-of-games parade!
The chanter reeds didn't take too well to the wet weather though and although the sound was good in the Grade 4 and OK in the Grade 4A by the time we'd prepared for the Grade 3 the high A's on a number of the chanters were definitely causing problems - so looks like it's time for a re-reeding session as part of our preparations for Cowal
